Simpler Times
I have found myself craving for when times were simpler. When expressing yourself online was not directed by the evil social media algorithm.
When you didn’t have to ‘create content’ that would get the most likes with on trend dances and the latest health obsessions.
When you could just be you.
Simple and True.
If one person read your blog then you were killing it and you didn’t have to get sucked into reams and reams of ads and visuals telling you , who to be, how to be and where to be.
Bringing Blogging Back
My words have been calling me back. I have let them loose upon this blog, who knows where they might take us, but the creative release is the core of the yearning.
Slowly without pressure you can begin to unfurl your tendrils.
I always wondered how plant people did it.
How they kept their green babies alive.
I never saw myself as a plant mother.
However when I began to make changes to lessen my mental load. I found room in my life to watch the slow unfurling of new leaves. Rising on a saturday morning still wearing my pyjamas, sleep in my eyes and dreadlocks in my bed head. I rise to begin the day with the simple joy of giving water to my thirsty plants.
This change in pace after 5 days of shouting at sloth like boys to get their teeth bushed and their shoes on. Is soothing to an overwhelmed soul. Instead, on Saturdays the pace is slow, delicious and bursting with light.
My creative thinking nine year old who can sometimes be dismissed at school for not getting his work done, but is bursting with critical and creative brain cells, had seen me harvesting seeds from some sunflowers. A process that brought great joy, the bounty of nature from these flowers of the sun. While tucking him into bed late on a Saturday night when I thought only sleep was on his mind, he said……
‘Mum I was thinking ,with all your sunflower seeds even if only three of them grow into a sunflower you can keep growing sunflowers forever. ‘
What simple joys add beauty to your days ?
From little things big things grow.
